PGA-Poland 2015 season
The 2015 is now history. Behind us many great events and successes, before us new challenges and possibilities. For the last time we present the events of the year gone by.
The most important event of professional golf in Poland was, undoubtedly, the LOTOS PGA-Poland Tour.
Winner of the inaugural tournament – Gradi Invitational, was a player from the Czech Republic, Ales Korinek. The winner of the second tournament – Floating Garden Szczecin Open was Jakub Dymecki. The junior golfer finished the tournament with a result of 6 under Par. First place at the Sierra PGA-Poland Trophy went to Ian Ashenden. The winner of the penultimate tournament – PRESS GLASS Poland Cup was Thomas Bosco Cwiok. The final of the series, PGA-Poland Championship, was held at the First Warsaw G&CC, and the winner this time again came from the Czech Republic – Stanislav Matus.
Apart from the LOTOS PGA-Poland Tour, many other professional tournaments were held in Poland. One of them was the LOTOS Polish Open with Martin Keskari as the winner. One of the most interesting tournaments of the year was PGA-Poland Short Game Championship powered by Work Service and held in Józefów. The winner was Jakub Grzesiuk, an Amateur, who beat Brian Messing. The event was crowned by three holes-in-one. Two of them belonged to Witold Smoniewski and the third to Piotr Ragankiewicz.
The season ended at the Sand Valley G&CC with the KRAM Matchplay tournament. Kuba Ossowski, the winner, defeated on the way Brian Messing, Ian Ashenden and Peter Bronson.
Apart from the tournaments organised by the PGA-Poland, two other professional tournaments were held – Caspar Choszczno Open and Kalinowo Open. The win at the first went to Kuba Ossowski and in the second to Kamil Chojnicki.
One of the most interesting events of the year was the Polish Longest Drive Championship. The winner among professionals was Max Sałuda with a drive of 249 m. In 2013 and 2014 Max came second. Second place in 2015, with a drive 1 m shorter than max, went to Juan Ochoa.
October 10th saw the end of the first edition of the PGA-Poland Junior Academy. The programme was created to popularize golf among the youngest. 10 golf Clubs participated in this first edition of the programme. PGA-Poland rewarded most active Clubs and professionals. The total grant was 50 000 PLN, and most active professionals received 10 000 PLN each. The best Club turned out to be Tokary Golf Club, and the best professional went to Wacław Laszkiewicz. The tournament crowning the programme attracted 40 young players.
The events of the 2015 season are now history. However, the ending of one season also means the beginning of the new one, hence we encourage you to have a look at the PGA-Poland Tour schedule for 2016 season.
